Dilution Ratios for Essential Oils
INTRODUCTION: The majority of the essential oils that Vicki's (Lynn) Botanicals offers are utilized best when diluted with a carrier oil. To provide clarity as to how powerful these oils are: one drop of essential oil equals 40-70 cups of tea. Would you consume 40 cups of tea in a day? Or pour 40 cups of tea onto the surface of your body? Of course the answer is no, as it would be very wasteful. Oregano, Thyme and Wormwood essential oils are good examples of one drop equaling 60-70 cups of tea. There are a few essential oils that can be used 'neet' (without diluting). Three of the most common favorites would be peppermint, spearmint and lavender essential oils. It is highly recommended to perform a test on a small patch of skin to assess for sensitivities before using any essential oil on a larger scale. And when in doubt, dilute. Better to err in safety then to receive a reaction or even an oil burn on your skin.
DIRECTIONS: Following is a list of carrier oils that we offer online, when available. Below are the ratios of 'drops per oil' combined into 3 different sizes of bottles that should then have a carrier oil added up to the shoulder of the bottle. Once the cap is securely tightened, shake the bottle a minimum of 100x to ensure the carrier oil and essential oil are mixed thoroughly.
CARRIER OILS for diluting purposes:
Jojoba • Coconut Oil • Almond Oil

Dilution Ratios for external applications
There are approximately 100-120 drops of oil in a 5 ml. bottle. The amount of oil, based on drops, depends on the thickness of the oil. Thicker oil will have less drops, thinner oil will have more. Use the smaller amounts suggested for thicker oils, and the larger amounts for thinner oils.

What is different about
Vicki's Botanicals essential oils?
Did you know that in year 2000, only 50 tons of pure lavender essential oil was produced by the farms in France. Yet 250 tons of pure lavender essential oil was exported!
This means that only 1/5th of what is sold as pure lavender essential oil, really is. The Earth can only support so many lavender plants, which can only produce so much essential oil.
Yet the market continues to grow, more and more is sold... but now most of it is coming from laboratories and contains little if any real essential oil. This is imperative for us to understand, if we want to understand quality!
