When inhaled, it relieves anger, depression, stress, fear, anxiety, shock, and panic. It relaxes the nervous system and brings consciousness to the present moment.
It is an aphrodisiac for many people.
It has an affinity for the root, navel, solar plexus, and heart energy centers.
It especially activates the senses of smell and taste, clearing emotional debris, and helping to access a child-like mental space, free of judgement (“beginner’s mind”).

Observations and Anecdotal Information
Most of us consider Ylang Ylang to be an emotional relaxer and mood enhancer, as it helps to relieve anger, depression, insomnia, tension, stress, fear, anxiety, and to clear the emotional body in general. A lesser known characteristic is that it is also a potent urinary system tonic that can strengthen the bladder and kidneys, and restore adrenal balance.
It is particularly useful for transmuting fear and tension from the emotional body, and can calm panic attacks and anxiety. Its lovely deep floral aroma soothes and calms the emotional body, balances mood swings, and supports our intention to transmute and dissolve old emotional patterns of stress and drama.
Ylang ylang is a superb endocrine regulator. It can even be used in custom blends for balancing hormonal issues, especially PMS and menopausal symptoms. It is commonly used for restoring hair regrowth due to hormone imbalances or stress reactions. It can be added in small amounts to shampoos or hair conditioners for this purpose.
