Lemon Ironbark has a very soft and rounded aroma, unlike most eucalyptuses. It is not as sharp as Eucalyptus citriodora. It has been used as a culinary flavoring in drinks, sauces, marinades, and breads. It has been used as a flavorant for “lemon cordial”, the Australian equivalent of lemonade, and makes a lovely tea or drink that is very high in anti-oxidants.

In natural perfumery, it is used in high class florals, colognes, culinary perfumes, and fruit bases.
It blends well with many oils, including cassia, jasmine absolute, melissa, orange, and ylang ylang.
Observations and Anecdotal Information
Lemon Ironbark is an extremely gentle eucalyptus, this one aids in regaining the will to make changes, and the will to live, especially when one has given up. It also helps one to understand that doing nothing is often the best choice. It helps one to know when it is appropriate to stop interfering with others by trying to take care of them. It helps one learn to hold space for others rather than trying to fix them or save them. It is an excellent oil for applying to the solar plexus and heart for this purpose; or it can be diffused and inhaled.
It has anti-infectious and antiviral properties. Lemon Ironbark helps open breathing passages and expel mucus and congestion. It relieves coughs related to flu and colds, and can relieve body aches and pain from viral attack when applied to the spine as a hot compress. It is an exceptionally fine aromatic to add to blends for pain relief, as it blends well with many other oils. It is also great for a massage oil, to help with pain relief and muscular tension.
