Blue gum has the classic eucalyptus aroma. It blends well with exotic woods, citruses, and other eucalyptus oils.

Blue gum essential oil was used to sterilize surgical equipment in the 1800’s, before chemicals came to replace it. This speaks of the disinfectant power of the blue gum.
It is a superb oil for opening breathing passages, clearing mucus from the respiratory system, and easing breathing. It has been used to treat infectious diseases including deep lung infections, bronchitis, malaria, flu, colds, rhinitis, and tuberculosis. It can be diffused and inhaled, or applied to the chest in a compress for these conditions.
This is one of the more popular eucalyptus oils you will find for dripping over a sauna, and letting it turn to steam as it has a very energetic aroma for opening up the lungs.
It is a blood thinner and increases circulation. It is often used as a relaxing massage oil as well.
