Sweet Basil essential oil relieves anxiety and nervous fatigue. It enhances memory and mental clarity. Energetically, it opens the heart meridian, and clears the energy flow from heart to hands. This makes it a great oil for preparing for Reiki and other forms of energy healing. Sweet basil facilitates meditation. When applied to the spine, this oil can stimulate spontaneous vertebral alignment in some cases. In other cases, when vertebrae are aligned manually, the application of this oil can extend the period that the alignment holds, preventing it from going back out again.

Observations and Anecdotal Information
Sweet Basil is a linalol chemo-type basil, with a sweet smell and flavor. It is sometimes referred to as Genovese type basil. The methyl-chavricol chemo-type is referred to as Reunion basil, and the Eugenol chemo-type basil is referred to as Holy Basil.
Energetically, Sweet Basil is a stimulator that can help us become alert and awake when we are fatigued. It is helpful for enhancing concentration and mental clarity. It has an affinity for the heart, and can help open the heart meridian and balance the energy of the heart.
It can also ease headaches, facilitate lymphatic drainage, and reduce sinus congestion from colds and viruses.
Sweet Basil makes a wonderful massage oil for relieving pain and relaxing tired muscles. I find it to be especially nice for diffusion, as it is sweeter and less medicinal smelling then Holy Basil.
It is also a very beneficial addition to spinal oil treatments, as basil is highly anti-viral, anti-parasitic, and antibacterial. I have occasionally seen basil oils facilitate a spontaneous vertebral adjustment by applying to the spine with a hot compress for 20 minutes.
Sweet Basil is one of the favoritesfor supporting liver regeneration as well. It makes a fine compress on the liver for this purpose; and this process can also facilitate the relief of menstrual pain or cramping.
Because it is very helpful for the adrenal glands, Sweet Basil can be useful for women experiencing PMS and menopause symptoms.
