Observations and Anecdotal Information
Caraway essential oil is an old traditional European remedy for indigestion, gas, and stomach disorders. It is grown all over Europe, North Africa, and Asia as a medicinal and culinary herb.
It is loaded with vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, and is known for its ability to reduce the time it takes to move food through the digestive system.
Caraway has been shown to bind toxins from food, and can help protect the digestive mucus membrane from some cancers. It also helps to decrease reabsorption of toxins in the colon, and lower serum and LDL levels in the blood. It is a superb choice for internal use (semi-homeopathic dosages) in healing ulcers, digestive system cancers, and other stomach and intestinal disorders.
Traditional uses for Caraway include treating earache, bruises, infant colic, and children’s stomach ache. Caraway has also been used to treat hiatal hernia, menstrual cramps, and to increase breast milk production in nursing mothers.
When sweetened, it has a very agreeable flavor, making it a great candidate for improving the flavor of other herbal tonics and remedies.
